The Amish are primarily farmers. Some are carpenters and cabinet makers, blacksmiths, buggy makers.
They are without electric and telephone lines.
Wood and coal fueled stoved provide heat. Cooking stoves are powered by propan, kerosene or wood. Kerosene or clear gas lamps provide light.

Swartzengruber Amish
There are four major orders: Swartzengruber , Old Order, Andy Weaver, and New Order Amish. All the groups operate independently from each other with variations in how they practice their religion and religion dictates how they conduct their daily lives.
